Jesus Calms the Storm
One busy day, after talking to and healing many people, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s go to the other side of the lake.”
As they sailed off, Jesus lay down and went to sleep. Without warning, powerful winds came up. The water grew choppy and wild. Big waves broke over the boat. Even though some of the disciples were fishermen, and good sailors, the storm was too much for them. They were terrified.
“Wake up Master,” the disciples cried. “Do something. We’re about to drown!”
Jesus stood up and spoke to the wind and the waves. “Quiet! Be still!” he commanded them.
The wind died down. The water became smooth and calm.
Jesus faced the disciples. “Why are you so afraid?” he asked. “Don’t you have any faith at all?”
Still frightened, the disciples asked each other, “Who is he? Even the wind and the waves obey him.”
(I wonder why Jesus left the crowds to go to the other side of the lake?)
(I wonder why Jesus asked the disciples why they were afraid?)
(I wonder why the disciples asked each who Jesus was?)
