Any Dream Will Do

Some thought it was a crazy idea, but the transformation of the Sanctuary into the setting for a musical retelling of the story of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat felt more like a miracle after it was over.
Many thanks to all those who had some part in making it happen: to cast members who sang and danced their way through the great music; to backstage helpers who built and painted sets and props and spectacular backdrops; to the kitchen crew and all who donated baked goods for the yummy “dessert bar”; to those who sold tickets; to the those who came to see the show and invited friends. It was, indeed, an exhilarating encounter with the intersection of a Bible story and a Broadway musical.
Most of all, we owe thanks to those who have the capacity and talent to dream the show into reality: to Jane Bernstein, for an amazing Technicolor collection of costumes and hats and props; to Donald Dillard, for the “organ orchestra” that ran the gamut from flutes to cowboy bass; to Yoko Dillard, for her patience and talent in providing exceptional piano accompaniment for rehearsals and show.
Finally, we thank the biggest dreamers of us all: Artistic Director Rev. Margaret Boles and Technical Director John Boles. John’s theatrical and technical experience brought us into the brightly lit stage on the flagstone. He invented and built everything from a throne platform to a jail cell to a golden colored chariot, mounted the lights, and even tamed our flaky sound equipment, and more. And Margaret’s indefatigable energy, encouragement, coaching, imagining, and faith that we could do it were an inspiration to us all and testimony to God’s sense of humor and love that give us great dreams and grand designs.
And thank you all for coming to see the show and hear the story. It was even more fun with a live audience!
